Dolly Hinckley has been a mediator in private practice since January, 1984, specializing in divorce mediation. She has also been doing some volunteer custody/visitation and PINS mediations for Family Court and the Center for Dispute Settlement since 1985, and, as a result, has been certified by the Unified Court System of the State of New York to do those mediations.
She co-founded the Neutral Ground Support Organization in 1975, and, as a facilitator in those peer support groups, she would often hear stories from group participants about their negative experiences (and their children’s) when the family was immersed in the adversarial divorce process. She became a mediator because of that group experience.
In 2012, she received the prestigious Abel Award presented by the New York State Council on Divorce Mediation at their annual conference, an honor bestowed but once a year on a deserving mediator.
She is a member of most local, state, national, and international mediator organizations and has presented at numerous conferences. She is an approved consultant to mediators around the world.
Dolly, throughout the years, has never wavered from the belief that mediation is the better way.
“Although it was a difficult and emotional process, I now feel relieved and hopeful. I admired your skill as a mediator, especially your ability to be clear yet kind.” – AC, Greece
